  • Stereotype
  • Analysis:  The woman is  discontent with his attitude because the mental image of a normal teenager is rebellious, not like this boy who seems to be quiet and studious.

  • Gender discrimination
  • Description: a man and a woman are standing on two different piles of penny; however, the man’s pile of penny is bigger and higher than the woman’s.  It can be seen that the man gives a hand to shake the woman’s hand and the other hand is dipping into his trousers pocket. The woman shows her irritation with the man’s attitude.
  • Analysis: It implicates that men is in higher position and status than women. Moreover, men wants to make acquaintance with women, but just women does not show the cooperation attitude. However, for further consideration, it is clear that the man is looking down on the woman.
  • Scapegoating
  • Analysis: We can see the bias in both the title and the content of the news. It blames MC. Lai Van Sam for his incorrect interpretation in a very important event “the International Film Festival” that will have bad effect on the image of Vietnam in the eyes of the world. In fact, it is an obligatory situation that the interpretor was suddenly absent, and he could not leave the event be quiet in more than 3 minutes, so the so-call “ngẫu hứng” in the title is a bias . Moreover, this news ridiculed Lai Van Sam as “em-xi kiêm nhân viên phiên dịch”, and “vẫn mạnh dạn (hay liều mạng) lĩnh phần chuyển ngữ”.

I agree with you that the bias in the 2nd item is gender discrimination. However, I do not understand which you mean by saying ” but just women does not show their cooperation attitude”.

your item 1 and 2 are ok. but in item 3, I don’t think it is scapegoating. it is just an ironic piece, not a bias to Lai Van Sam

I agree that item 2 is discimination, but i don’t think that the men look down on the women. And as regards to Item 3, i share the same opinion with Thao that it’s not Scapegoating. It’s rather a irony than a bias.
