Item 1.

Type : scapegoating

Analysis : The picture is about a company meeting. The leader, who is sitting in the center, says that :”I believe…….followers” . His words contain a bias that the leader is never be blamed. He won’t be responsible for any failure and it will be his employers who should take the responsibilities.

Item 2:

Type: Stereotype

Analysis: This is a scandal of the teenager singer Miley Cyrus several year ago. In the picture, Miley is sitting among many of her friends, making fun of the small eyes of the Asean boy next to her. It reveals the bias toward Asean people, who are supposed to have very small eyes. In fact, not all of them have  small eyes.

Item 3:

Type: gender discrimination

Analysis: In the picture,it’s clear that the ladder for men is much higher than that for women, which means in a corporate, or in the workplace in general, men often have more chance to be promoted and have higher positions than women.

From where I stand, the last item contain more gender prejudice than discrimination because from the picture we cannot see any particular action to women. It is just a negative judgement or opinion, I think.

Personally, i think the bias in the 1st item is not scapegoating. It is discrimination between the position, rights and actions of a boss and the workers. It means the leader is always at an advantage in comparison with the staff.

From where I stand also :-“, I do not Agree with Huyen’s comment. The last item is obviously about discrimination because, just as Linh stated, the ladder was the symbol of oppotunities of promotion in work. Women are treated in less favourable way than men.
